Touchwood Goat Farm

A boutique Huon Valley micro dairy where visitors can meet friendly LaMancha goats, taste goat milk products, and learn about sustainable farming. Open farm days, a Hobart store and Salamanca Market stall make it easy to connect with the herd.

Touchwood Goat Farm

Touchwood Goat Farm is a welcoming Huon Valley micro dairy that celebrates the humble goat in all its charm. Located in Strathblane, about an hour’s drive south of Franklin, this small farm specialises in LaMancha goats–known for their quirky tiny ears and affectionate personalities. The farm is more than just a place to taste artisan dairy products: it’s an opportunity to connect with the animals and the people who care for them.

What to Expect

Every Sunday the farm opens its gates from 10am to 4pm for visitors to meet and feed the goats. The animals are friendly and curious, often coming right up to the feeding area. It’s an engaging, hands-on experience that delights children and adults alike. Alongside goat cuddles, you’ll find farm-made products such as fresh goat milk, soft and hard cheeses, creamy cajeta (a Mexican-style caramel sauce), skin-care products made with goat milk, and a refreshing range of goat milk ice creams.

Where to Find Touchwood Products

You don’t have to visit Strathblane to experience Touchwood. Their stall at Salamanca Market in Hobart (site 143) operates every Saturday from 8am to 3pm, offering the full product range and a chance to chat directly with the makers. For weekday access, the Farm Store in Hobart’s Bank Arcade (Shop 5) is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, making it easy to sample goat cheeses or stock up on soaps and lotions in the city.

Planning Your Visit

A farm visit takes about 1–2 hours, perfect for a relaxed family outing or a stop as part of a longer southern Huon Valley drive. Entry is free, though you’ll want to bring some spending money for treats and gifts. Wear outdoor-appropriate shoes as you’ll be near animals, and bring a cooler bag if you plan to take home dairy products. For those short on time, Salamanca Market on Saturdays is an excellent way to meet the Touchwood team and explore their range without leaving Hobart.

Touchwood Goat Farm is ideal for families, food lovers, and anyone keen to get close to gentle farm animals while tasting the best of Tasmania’s small-batch dairy traditions.
